Making winter enjoyable for all

Monday, 29 January 2018

WINTER in Bangladesh descends with a romantic thrill in nature. In the countryside winter means a season of festivity with variety of celebrations all around. On the other hand, winter brings with it a variety of seasonal foods, especially pithas (cakes) and other sweet dishes. The season particularly brings a joyous feeling among the pastoral children.
In urban life however winter is equally welcome. But the level of joy in winter is brought down as we witness the sufferings of the homeless people in different areas of cities. Winter comes as a brutal period for them who spend their nights under the open sky in chilling cold. I always felt that the better-off people should start collecting warm clothes before winter comes and distribute the same among the homeless people. It is needless to mention that the government has a far greater responsibility to provide them with shelter so that they at least have a roof overhead that will protect them from all adversities of nature.
