Malaysia donates Tk 7m to CIRDAP

Malaysia contributed Tk 7.0 million ($95,777) to the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) in Bangladesh to support and enhance integrated rural development and poverty alleviation initiatives in Asia and the Pacific region, reports BSS.
Malaysian High Commissioner Jamaluddin Sabeh handed over the contribution cheque to CIRDAP Director General Dr Qurga P Paudyal at the High Commission of Malaysia Monday.
CIRDAP, a regional, inter-governmental and autonomous organisation based in Dhaka, was established on July 6, 1979 at the initiative of the countries of the Asia Pacific region and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
CIRDAP is now a centre of 14 member-countries namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
