Malaysia to hold single country edn fair in Dhaka, Ctg

Malaysia is going to hold week-long single-country education fairs in Dhaka and Chittagong from October 10.brMalaysian High Commi-ssioner in Bangladesh Dato Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Aziz discussed the fair programme during a courtesy call on Adviser for Commerce and Education Hossain Zillur Rahman Tuesday.brDuring the meeting, the education adviser evinced interest in holding a single-country education fair of Bangladesh in Malaysia.brStressing the need for enhancing business ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia, the adviser termed meat, pharmaceuticals, leather products, frozen fish and ceramics as the prospective export sectors of the country alongside manpower sector.brThere has been a chance for Bangladesh to expand exports to Malaysia in these sectors, he told the envoy. brHe also called upon the Malaysian businessmen to invest in Bangladesh to take advantage of its investment-friendly atmosphere.brThe High Commissioner also expressed his interest in expanding bilateral trade with Bangladesh.brBangladesh exported products worth US$ 16.91 million to Malaysia during the fiscal 2006-07 while Malaysian exports were worth $334.16 million during the same period. brIn the fiscal 2007-08, Bangladesh exported products worth $24.17 million to Malaysia.brLater, Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty met the adviser for commerce and education, and handed him an invitation letter of Minister for Arbitration (Panchayet) Development for Northeastern India Moni Shankar.brThe Indian Minister has invited the adviser to join the fourth Commerce Conference of Northeastern India to be held in Guwahati on September 15 and 16.
