Malaysian business teams to visit country soon

A 53-member Bangladesh delegation, consisting of members of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), attended the 3rd World Islamic Economic Forum, held in Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur on May 27-29.
The BMCCI team, during the visit, also signed two MOUs on bilateral trade and investment with their Malaysian counterparts.
With the visit of the delegation, the business relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia has further been cemented. As an outcome of the visit, a number of business delegations from Malaysia are expected to visit Bangladesh this year.
The team, led by Ministry of Industries Adviser Geeteara Safiya Choudhury and Women Federation President Rokia A Rahman, consisted of the largest women delegation in WIEF.
The 3rd forum was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and attended, among others, by the President of Indonesia and the Prime Minister of Kuwait along with the political and business leaders of the OIC-member countries.
The 3rd forum was organised by the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation, in association with the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade, International Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute with the support of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Malaysian government.
The conference concluded with an action-oriented programme. The forum moved to reshape the image of the Islamic countries, aiming to relocation of cross-border poverty and violence with trade, investment and financial services with vibrancy and ultimate prosperity.
It was also decided that the 1st Regional WIEF Conference, comprising the representatives of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Maldives and Bangladesh, will be held in Dhaka on November 3-4 this year. Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia has been invited to attend the conference.
Members of the Bangladesh delegation included Salahuddin Kasem Khan, chairman, SEACO Task Force (Bangladesh) and member, international advisory panel, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, president, BMCCI, and Monowara Hakim Ali, president, Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Besides, chairman of Prime Bank, chairman of HRC Group, former chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd, former chairman of BTMA, chairman of Prime Group, executive director of Chittagong Skills Development Centre (CSDC), and president and secretary general of Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEA) were also the members of the delegation.
Bangladesh High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur Shafi U Ahmad was also present with the Bangladesh delegation.
