Malaysian firm to ‘produce 1.0m MRPs’

The cabinet committee on public procurement on Monday approved a proposal for hiring a Malaysian firm to produce 1.0 million machine readable passports (MRPs) for the Bangladeshi workers living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). At its 6th meeting, the committee approved hiring the firm, ‘Irish Corporation Berhad’, for producing the machine readable passports, which will cost US$ 13 each. The firm will also be responsible for sending the passports to the recipients in the UAE, according to a news agency.
