Malaysian furniture show in city in July

A four-day Malaysian FITEC Furniture Showcase '09 will be held in Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city from July 7.
The first three days of the promotional show will be for the traders and the last day for the general public, chief executive officer of FITEC, Ms Sarimah Mohamad Sabudin said at a press conference in the National Press Club Sunday.
Furniture Industry Technology Centre (FITEC) and TM International (Bangladesh) Limited (AKTEL), as part of their collaboration, will build 1000 resource centres for schools throughout Bangladesh.
"FITEC hopes to contribute to the advancement of furniture industry in Bangladesh through the promotion of Malaysian furniture and furniture technology and design," Ms Sabudin said and added that FITEC would provide the much needed furniture for the centres and AKTEL the equipment and other facilities.
FITEC also hoped to establish a permanent showroom in Dhaka after the showcase.
The second Secretary of Malaysian High Commission, James Co, and Managing Director of Artwelz, Khairuddin Mahmud, among others, were present at the conference.
