Mamata Banerjee arrives in city

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has arrived in Dhaka Friday night, hours before the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam received her at the airport after a regular Air India flight landed at about 8:40pm. From the airport, she drove straight to Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel where she will stay. Modi with his entire entourage will stay at Pan Pacific Sonargoan. She earlier said she would leave Saturday after witnessing the exchange of instruments on ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement at the Prime Minister’s Office. Before that, she will call on Modi at his hotel. It is due to Banerjee’s resistance that the much-talked-about Teesta water-sharing deal would not be inked this time like it was not during Manmohan Singh’s 2011 visit. She came back within three months of her first Bangladesh visit as Chief Minister.
Modi will arrive at about 10:30am Saturday in a special Indian Air Force flight, according to a news agency.
