Mamata\\\'s visit to help resolve outstanding issues: Shahriar

India's Paschimbanga Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee's upcoming Dhaka visit is seen as significant as it is expected to facilitate resolution of outstanding issues between the two neighbouring countries, report agencies.
"We hope that the visit would help facilitate resolving the outstanding issues like Teesta Water Sharing and Land Boundary Agreements (LBA) between Bangladesh and India," said State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam in the city Tuesday.
He said although it is not a bilateral visit, Teesta Water Sharing and LBA issues and other pending matters would certainly come up for discussion during her Dhaka visit.
He said the Paschimbanga CM would arrive in the city Thursday on a three-day visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali to join the International Mother's Language Day programmes on February 21 as guest of honour.
Mamata Banerjee will attend the 'Amar Ekushey Ujjyapan' function at Shaheed Minar to pay homage to the martyrs of the Language Movement, and visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum during her three-day visit.
Mamata is scheduled to meet President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and attend a 'High Tea' to be hosted by the Bangladesh Foreign Minister.
The Chief Minister's other engagements include an address to a Business Meet being to be organised by the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) in association with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Indian Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Kolkata, as well as interactions with cultural personalities of both India and Bangladesh.
She will also attend a reception to be hosted in her honour by the High Commissioner of India.
This will be Mamata Banerjee's first visit to Bangladesh after taking over as the Chief Minister of Paschimbanga in May, 2011.
The Chief Minister will be accompanied by Shri Firhad Hakim, Paschimbanga Minister of Urban Development, Shri Bratya Basu, Paschimbanga Minister of Tourism, Shri Deepak Adhikari, Member of Parliament, Ms Moonmoon Sen, Member of Parliament, Shri Sanjay Mitra, Chief Secretary, and other senior officials.
Her delegation also includes eminent cultural, business and media personalities including famed singers Kabir Suman, Nachiketa and Indranil Sen, filmmaker Gautam Ghosh, poet Subodh Sarkar, and actor Arindam Sil.
