Man abducts ex-wife killing her brother

A man abducted his former wife after killing her brother in Paikortoli village in Dogachhi union in Joypurhat Sadar upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sabuj, 18, son of Abu Taleb of the village. Quoting family members, Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Police Station, said one Shipon of Khanjanpur in the suburb of the district town had picked up Khadiza Begum, 20, forcefully and married her three months back. When the family of Khadiza came to know that Shipon was married and he had a child, they called Shipon to their house and gave him a thrashing. Later they got Khadiza divorced from Shipon. As a sequel to the incident, Shipon along with some 10-12 associates riding on several motorbikes went to Khadiza’s house and abducted her around 9:30pm. They also beat Sabuj, brother of Khadiza and stabbed him indiscriminately as he tried to resist them, leaving him dead on the spot. However, police arrested five people from the village in connection with the incident, according to UNB.
