Wednesday, 9 September 2015

Police have detained a man in Dhaka city over the death of his pregnant wife. Tanzila Rahman Binty, 30, was brought to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by her husband Shah Alam early on Wednesday. Doctors declared her dead. Alam was later picked up by the police following a complaint by a relative of Binty. The couple lived in Mugda area in the city and have a 7-year-old son. Police said they found the husband’s behaviour ‘suspicious’.
“There were no injury marks on the body, but the husband is behaving abnormally,” said DMCH police outpost’s Inspector Mozammel Haque. "She could have been suffocated to death by a pillow forced on her face." He said that Alam told them that Binty fell unconscious after screaming in sleep and had been taken to a Mugda hospital before she was shifted to the DMCH. “Binty’s parents and siblings live in the US. Her uncle Abdur Rahman complained to police against Shah Alam,” said Inspector Haque. He said Alam has been over to the Mugda police, according to a news agency.
