Man beaten dead in Barisal

A group of unruly villagers beat to death a man in Kaliganj Bazar (market) under Bakerganj Upazila in Barisal on Monday. The identity of the victim could not be known. Local sources said a security guard of a shop raised a hue and cry claiming that a gang of robbers entered the market after midnight. Hearing his screaming, some villagers rushed to the spot and found the man in the market. They beat him indiscriminately without verifying his identity to be sure if was a robber or not. The man died on the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy, according to a news agency.
