Man beaten dead in Khagrachhari

A man has been killed in a lynch-mob attack in Manikchhari Upazila in Khagrachhari district. The deceased was identified as Abdul Matin, 60, a resident of Malangipara. Manikchhari Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Abul Kalam said the elderly man was beaten to death in Malangipara village on Thursday morning. A gang of miscreants beat Matin mercilessly in the morning, leaving him dead on the spot, villagers and witnesses said. When contacted, officer-in-charge of Manikchhari Police Station Shafiqul Islam confirmed the incident. However, the reason behind the killing could not be known, the OC said, according to a news agency.
