Man beaten dead, son injured in Gazipur

A man was beaten to death while his son injured by some local miscreants in Gazipur city on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Motaleb Mia, 39. Police and locals said Motaleb's son Humayun Kabir Sarkar, 19, had been beaten up by the miscreants following a dispute over a game. Witnesses said Kabir was playing carom with 'Sajib', 'Limon' and four other wayward men when an argument began and the rogues started thrashing him. Motaleb Mia rushed to his son’s rescue when Sajib, Limon and the others attacked him. Police rescued the victims and rushed them to Gazipur Sadar Hospital where the doctors pronounced Motaleb dead in the afternoon, according to a news agency.
