Man chopped dead

Some miscreants chopped a man to death following a dispute over playing carrom in Jibannagar Upazila in Chuadanga district on Wednesday night. The dead is Arif Hossain, 24, son of Ajijor Box of Senerhuda village. Locals said Arif had an altercation with some identified local miscreants over playing carrom in the village at night. At one stage, one of the miscreants, named Tota, equipped with a hasua (chopper), swooped on Arif and chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him seriously injured. Arif died on the way to Jibannagar Hospital, according to a private TV channel.
