Man chopped dead in Jhenidah

A man was chopped to death by miscreants following a conflict over a social matter in Shailakupa upazila in Jhenidah on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed Mandal, 55, son of late Bhedai Mandal of Shingnagar village. Police said Sayeed had enmity with Rabiul Islam, a member of the union parishad, over a social matter for long. As a sequel to the enmity, a group of men chopped Sayeed with sharp weapons indiscriminately around 8:00am while he was going to local Benibazar by a bicycle, leaving him critically injured. Sayeed was first taken to Shoilakupa Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He died on way to Kushtia Medical College Hospital around 9:00am, according to UNB.
