Man drowns in Magura pond

An elderly man with physical disabilities drowned in a pond at Kanainagar village under Mohammadpur Police Station in Magura district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Akhil Biswas, 40, son of Ananto Biswas, a resident of the village. Family sources said Akhil slipped into the pond beside his house when he went there to have a bath in the afternoon. Later, family members found him floating in the pond after a frantic search and rescued him. After he was taken to Mohammappur Upazila Heath Complex, doctors there declared him dead. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
