Sohel Mia, wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped into Buriganga River, has claimed one of his co-workers put him there for embezzling his money. The alleged mastermind ‘Amin’ is still untraced. Mia, who hails from Patuakhali district and is a mason by profession, was found alive in a bag floating on Buriganga River on September 18. He was taken to the Mitford Hospital for treatment. Speaking to this correspondent after leaving hospital a week later, he said he lived at a quarter in Keraniganj and kept Tk 20,000 with his fellow mason Amin as he did not have a safe. He said he asked for the money a week before the incident as he planned to go home. Amin took him to Jinjira Bazar on Sept 17 to return him the money from another person. ‘Around 11pm, several youths showed up there and started beating me up,’ Mia claimed. ‘I blacked out after I was hit in the head.’ The following day, locals found a large white plastic sack floating on the river. They found Mia barely alive inside it, according to bdnews24.com.
