Man found dead in Laxmipur

Police recovered the body of a man from Piarpur Wapda canal in Sadar upazila of Laxmipur district on Wednesday, eight days after he went missing in the municipality area. The deceased was identified as Khorshed Alam, son of Badsha Miah, a resident of Mobarok Colony of the municipality and an activist of the local unit of Swechchhasebok league. Badsha Miah, the deceased’s father, said Khorshed has been missing since he left their house to go to the court on July29. Khorshed was accused in 10 cases including murder and robbery cases. Locals spotted a body tied up with rope at the Wapda canal in the area on Wednesday and informed police. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Mohammad Nazim Uddin, a sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.
