Man gets 10 yrs\\\' RI for killing his uncle in Sylhet

A court in Sylhet on Thursday convicted a man and sentenced him to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) for killing his paternal uncle in 2012. The convict was identified as Sohel Mia, 22, son of Siraj Mia, a resident of Mobarakpur village in Jalalabad upazila of Sylhet district. The court also fined him Tk 100,000, in default, to suffer two years more RI. According to the case statement, Siraj Ali had an altercation with his brother Sarkum Ali, 50, over a trifling matter on July 8, 2012. At one stage, Sohel attacked Sarkum Ali with a sharp weapon and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Sylhet’s Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, according to bdnews24.com.
