Man gets 17 yrs\\\' jail in arms case

A special court in Barisal on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to 17 years’ imprisonment for possessing firearms and ammunition. The convict was identified as Sujon Sardar, son of Habib Sardar, a resident of Charamandi area in Bakerganj upazila. According to the prosecution, tipped off, a team of police arrested Sujon along with a light gun, a shutter gun and three rounds of bullet from Harinapasha area under Airport Police Station on January 24, 2013. Sub-inspector of Airport Police Station Abul Khayer filed a case against him with the police station. After examining the records and witnesses, Special Tribunal-2 Judge Adib Ali handed down the verdict, according to a news agency.
