Man gets 20 yrs\\\' jail in Barisal

A Barisal court on Wednesday sentenced a man to twenty years’ rigorous imprisonment in an arms case. The convict was identified as Mohammad Hakim Jomaddar, son of Yusuf Ali, a resident Maheshpur area of Bakerganj upazila of Barisal district. According to the prosecution, a team of police led by Delwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Kotwali police station, conducted a drive in Ruptoli Adorsho area and arrested Mohammad Hakim along with a pipe gun and three rounds of cartridge. A case was filed in this connection. Later the charge sheet was submitted on December 9, 2013. After examining the records and nine witnesses among 11 witnesses, Mohammad Adib Roy, judge of Barisal special tribunal-2, handed down the verdict, according to a news agency.
