Man gets life for killing wife in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Aug 01 (BSS): A Joypurhat court has sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in Molamgari village under Kalai upazila of the district in 2002.
Additional District and Sessions Judge's court-2 Judge Md Abbas Uddin pronounced the verdict, in absence of the accused, on Monday.
The convict is Ashir Uddin, son of late Ofir Uddin, resident of Molamgari village of Kalai upazila of the district.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000.
According to case documents, on the evening of December 15, 2002, Ashir Uddin went to the nearby Bamangram to attend a religious meeting with his wife. The next day on December 16, 2002 local people found the body of housewife Mahfuza Khatun alias Anju in the crop field of Molamgari village of Kalai upazila.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the spot.
