Man gets life for violating minor girl

A tribunal in Chittagong on Wednesday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a minor girl in 2011. The convict was identified as Abdul Hye aka Abdullah,48, son of late Abdul Haque of Purba Gomdandi Bahaddarpara village in Boalkhali Upazila. The court also fined him Tk 50,000. According to the prosecution, the convict picked up a seven-year-old girl from his village and raped her taking her to a place on December 5, 2011. The victim’s mother filed a case against him with Boalkhali Police Station. On Feb 11, 2012, police submitted a charge-sheet against him. After examining the records and witnesses, District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Rezaul Karim delivered the verdict, according to UNB.
