Man gets life in Sylhet drugs case

A court in Sylhet on Tuesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for possissing drugs in Companyganj Upazila in 2011. The court also fined the convict, identified as M Azir Uddin, 35, son of late Abdul Malek of Dalergaon village of the Upazila, Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer 1 year more of rigorous imprisonment. A team of RAB-9 recovered 70 bottles of Phensidyl syrup worth Tk 28,000 from the house of Azir Uddin on November 13, 2011. A case was filed against him with Companyganj police station and the charge-sheet was submitted on December 10, 2011, according to a news agency.
