Man gets life term for killing wife

SIRAJGANJ, Sept 26 (UNB): A court here convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing his wife five years back.
The convict, Abdul Malek, 35, son of Abu Hossain Sarker of Manohara village of Ullapara upazila, was also fined Tk one lakh, in default, to suffer one year more RI.
According to the prosecution, Malek strangulated his wife Marium Khatun, 30, mother of two children, to death on April 3, 2007 as she protested her husband's extramarital affair with a woman.
Later, he set her body on fire to prove that she committed suicide. Victim's father Abdul Latif filed a murder case. After investigation, police submitted a charge sheet against Malek.
After examining the records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Abdus Salek on Monday pronounced the verdict.

village in Goainghat upazila, to life term imprisonment for selling drug.
After examining the records and witnesses, District and Session Judge Mizanur Rahman handed down the verdict.
