Man hacked dead in Rangpur

A young man was hacked to death by miscreants in Taluk Tampat area of Rangpur city on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Rajibul Hasan Rajib, 20, son of Dulal Miah, a resident of New Jummapara Pakarmatha of the city. Quoting locals, police said a gang of miscreants, numbering six, picked up Rajib on a motorbike from New Jummapara Pakarmatha area near his house at about 11:00 pm. Later, the gang members took Rajib to Taluk Tampat area and hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot. Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) morgue for an autopsy. Abdul Aziz, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station confirmed the incident. A case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
