Man hacks daughter to death over loan installment

CHUADANGA, Oct 01 (UNB): A man allegedly hacked his daughter to death over paying installments of a loan in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga in the early hours of Sunday.
The dead, Marjina Khatun (35), was daughter of Azibar Mandal alias Azizul Huq of Bagadanga village under Carpusdanga union of the upazila. Hossain, victim's nephew, said his aunt and grandfather got into an altercation over paying instalments of a loan at Azibar's house on Saturday evening.
Enraged by the incident, the father hacked his daughter with a locally-made sharp weapon when she was asleep around 1:30 am, he said.
Azibar also hacked the victim's daughter Roksena when she tried to save her mother, leaving the duo critically injured, the nephew said.
The injured were rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where physicians declared Marjina dead upon arrival, said the hospital's emergency department physician, Dr Mustafizur Rahman.
