Man held over killing minor girl after rape in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 28: Police arrested a man over killing of a minor girl after rape on Friday.
The arrestee, Lakshman Das (28), is a resident of Lohagara upazila in the district and an employee of Shyamoly Store in the port city's Jamal Khan area.
Sources said the victim, Marjan Hoque Borsha aged only seven, was a class one student at Kushumkumari Girls High School. She had gone missing three days ago after she left her house on October 24 to go a local shop to buy a packet of chips. On her way back home, Lakshman took her to the warehouse of the Shyamoly Store and raped her. When she screamed, he strangulated her to death.
Later, he put her body in a sack and threw into a drain near the shop.
On formation, police recovered body of Borsha from the drain near Sikder Hotel in Jamal Khan area and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy on Thursday. A case was filed in this connection.
Later, police detained Lakshman along with others on suspicion. At one stage of interrogation, Lakshman confessed to killing her after rape.
Mostafizur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (South Zone) disclosed this at a press conference at his office on Friday afternoon.
He said, "After committing such a crime there was no sign of suspicion in Lakshman. He spent three days leisurely in the neighbourhood grocery shop after the incident."
