Man held with gold bars at Shah Amanat

A man was arrested with four gold bars weighing around 500 grams at Hazrat Shah Amanat (RA) International Airport in Chittagong city on Monday. The detained passenger was identified as Mohammad Khurshid, a resident of Nazirhat area in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong district. Customs intelligence sources said Customs officials challenged Khurshid after he alighted from a flight from Sharjah and detained him. They also seized four gold bars weighing 500 grams from him, Moshiur Rahman Mandal, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Airport Customs, said. He said the gold bars were recovered searching the wallet and shoes of Khurshid, who came from the UAE city of Sharjah by an Air Arabia plane that landed at 9:00am. The passport of Khurshid was also seized, the Customs official added, according to a news agency.
