Man hurt in Thakurgaon clash dies at RMCH

A man, who sustained injuries in a clash between two groups of villagers while playing football at a field in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Tuesday, died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Toabur Rahman, 43, a resident of Bhatgaon village of the upazila. Quoting locals, police said the clash ensued following an altercation between two groups—one led by Firoz and another by Akter--during a friendly football match at Shikder Haat School playground in Auliapur union on Tuesday afternoon. At one stage, the rival groups attacked one another, leaving Toabur Rahman, father of Firoz, critically injured. He was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures on Wednesday afternoon. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station AKM Mehedi Hasan confirmed the death. A case was filed in this connection. Police arrested two people—Akter and Rashidul, both residents of Madarganj village, on suspicion of the killing, according to a news agency.
