Man injured in Satkhira \\\'encounter\\\'

A man was injured in an ‘encounter’ between robbers and police at Shyamnagar Upazila in Sundarbans Satkhira Range on Friday night. The victim was identified as Kamrul Islam. Police claimed that he is a leader of a gang of robbers. They said a team of Shyamnagar Police Station arrested Kamrul from Mirganj at Kaliganj Upazila on Friday afternoon. Police along with Kamrul conducted a drive in Boro Tiakhali River at Shyamnagar in Sundarbans Satkhira range around 11.00pm. Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar thana, said that sensing the presence of police, the members of a robbers’ gang, locally known as ‘Alim Bahini’, opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate, triggering a ‘gun battle’. Kamrul received bullet injury in the line of fire, according to a news agency.
