Man killed, 12 others injured in Kushtia

A man was killed and at least a dozen other people were injured in a clash between two groups at Char Chapra village in Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia district on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Ainal Haque, 45, a resident of the village. Quoting locals, police said supporters of local Akbar Ali Member and Nehar Ali-Bodi Hossain groups had long been at loggerheads over establishing their dominance in the area. An altercation ensued between the two groups and later it led to a clash. A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left Ainal dead on the spot and t least 12 injured on both sides. Mofizuddin Ahmed, Superintendent of Kushtia Police, confirmed the incident saying a drive has been launched to arrest the culprits, according to UNB.
