Man killed by nephew over land

A man was killed allegedly by his nephew in Osmaninagar in the city on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Kodris Ali, 55, son of late Siddique Ali of East Tilpara village under Osmaninagar Police Station. Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Kodris and his nephew Ustar Ali over the ownership of a piece of land. Kodris had an altercation with a younger brother of Ustar over the same issue in the morning. Later, Ustar attacked his uncle Kodris and hit him in the head with a (machete) while he was returning home from a local market around 11:00am, leaving him dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy, according to UNB.
