Man killed by son in city

A man was hacked to death allegedly by his son in Baunia Purbapara area under Turag Police Station in the outskirts of the city during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The victim was identified as Abul Hashem, 60, son of late Abbas Mia, hailed from Kamdakhada in Netrokona district. He was a grocery shop owner in Board Bazaar area of Gazipur and also a resided in the same area. Relatives said Abul Hashem’s son Abdul Malek alias Manik, 20, went to one of his uncle’s house at Baunia Purbapara in Turag by his father’s motorcycle on Friday. Later, Abul Hashem went to the relative’s house and wanted his motorcycle back from his son, leading to an altercation between the father and the son. At one stage, Manik attacked his father with a sharp weapon and stabbed him, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 5:50pm, according to a news agency.
