Saturday, 13 December 2014

CHUADANGA, Dec 12 (UNB): A man was strangulated to death allegedly by his wife and children for land in Sadar Upazila.
Police recovered the body of Rabiul Haque, 43, son of late Azhar Ali Mondal of Natidanga village in Alamdanga upazila, from his in-law's house at Garabaria village on Friday morning.
Police and locals said Rabiul's wife Jahera Khatun and her three children from her earlier marriage-son Shanta, and daughters Rehena and Sabina-had long been pressurising him to hand over his ancestral land to her name.
However, Rabiul repeatedly refused to entertain her demand whereby the couple used to lock in altercation.
Rabiul, who used to live at his in-law's house, quarrelled with his wife and children over the issue on Thursday night.
On information, police recovered the body of Rabiul on Friday morning and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
They also arrested Jahera and her three children in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station said Rabiul was strangled with a bicycle chain.
