Man killed for land in Moulvibazar

A man was killed in an attack by his rival for land in Kulaura Upazila in Moulvibazar district on Friday. The dead is Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury, 60, son of late Abdul Gafur of Madangouri village. Police and locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Shafiqul and one Majamil Miah of Madangouri village over the ownership of a piece of land. An altercation ensued between Shafiqul and Majalim over the issue around 6am. At one stage, Majalim chopped Shafiqul with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy, according to a news agency.
