Man killed in clash over land

A man was killed and 10 other people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Sadarpur village in Sadullahpur Upazila in Gaibandha on Wednesday afternoon. The dead is Saiduzzaman, a resident of the village. Police said there hasĀ been a long standing dispute over a piece of land between Mohammad Ali and Akbar Ali both residents of the village. The clash ensued when Akbar Ali attempted to cultivate the disputed land. Mohammad Ali and his supporters obstructed him at about 4:30 pm, triggering a clash. The two groups attacked each other with sticks and locally-made weapons, leaving 12 injured on both sides. The injured were rushed to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex where Saiduzzaman succumbed to his injures around 10:00pm, according to a news agency.
