Man killed in Kushtia \\\'shootout\\\'

A man was shot to death in a 'gun battle' between a gang of miscreants and police at Kushtia's Mirpur Upazila on Sunday morning. Enamul Haque, 35, was shot dead near Shahidul's Brick Field around 3:00am, said Mirpur Police OC Kazi Jalaluddin. Police said 7 to 8 extremists went to the brick field to extort money. They were surrounded by a joint team of Mirpur police and the district's Detective Branch (DB) personnel. An encounter followed when the miscreants started firing. 'They fell back after half-an-hour of firing. Enamul was found shot after we searched the area,' claimed OC Jalaluddin. He was declared dead after being taken to Mirpur Health Centre, he added, according to a news agency.
