Man killed in Shailkupa \\\'shootout\\\'

A man has been killed during a ‘shootout’ between a gang of miscreants and police in Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah district. Two policemen were also injured in the 'gun battle' in Kanapukuria village around 2:30am on Monday. The deceased had a driver's license of one Monirul Islam of Harinakundu Upazila in his pocket. Shailkupa Police OC Iqbal Bahar Choudhury claimed they received a tip off about a gang gathering next to Kanapukuria-Sherpur road. A police team who went to raid the area were fired upon by the gangsters, he said. ‘The gun battle lasted for around 14 to 15 minutes and most of the miscreants fled the scene. Police later found a bullet-hit body, claimed the OC, according to bdnews24.com.
