Man killed in \\\'shootout\\\' with police

A man has been killed by bullets during 'shootout' between police and a gang of pirates in west zone forest in Sundarbans under Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district. The identity of the deceased, aged around 40, could not be known immediately. Police claimed that he was the ring leader of notorious pirates' and forest robbers' gang who often kill fishermen, abduct them for ransom, loot villages and commit robbery in watercraft in Sundarbans and adjoining areas. They further claimed that he was killed in a 'shootout' between police and his co-horts in Pakhimara area in Shyamnagar on Sunday morning, according to private TV channels.
