Man lynched for stabbing brother in Rajshahi

A man was lynched allegedly by a group of villagers in Pananagar village in Durgapur Upazila in Rajshahi district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Jalil, 60, son of Mohammad Ali, of Bhalukgachhi Dangapara village. Police quoting locals said, there was a longstanding dispute between Abdul Khalil and his younger brother Abdul Jalil over the ownership of a piece of land. Jalil stabbed Khalil on Sunday afternoon as the latter resisted him while he attempted to cut a banana tree on the disputed land. Later, residents of Pananagar, Khalil’s in-laws’ village, managed to catch Jalil while he was trying to escape after the incident. They beat Jalil a mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot, according to UNB.
