Man sentenced to death for killing

CHITTAGONG, Sept 6 (UNB): A court here Thursday convicted a man and awarded him death penalty for killing his uncle in 1997.
The convict is Iftekhar Ali Haider Khokon of Panchalaish thana of the city.
According to the prosecution, Iftekhar had wanted to marry his cousin Mahbuba Mostafa but his uncle M Mostafa (57), former director of Education and Statistics Bureau, arranged his daughter Mahbuba's marriage with another person.
At this Iftekhar became furious and slaughtered his uncle after entering into his bedroom on April 25, 1997.
Additional Sessions Judge M Shamsul Huda pronounced the verdict acquitting three others.
