Man sentenced to death for killing wife in Khulna

KHULNA, July 15 (BSS): A Khulna court sentenced on Wednesday a man to death for murdering his wife in Batiaghata upazila in 2016.
The convict, Md. Mukul Kagaji, son of Razzak Kagaji of Sora village under Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district, was also fined Tk 50,000, with an additional five years' rigorous imprisonment in default of payment.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (Fourth Court) Md. Khurshid Alam delivered the verdict. Bench Assistant Md. Shah Alam confirmed the judgment.
The convict was absent during the pronouncement of the verdict.
According to the prosecution, Mukul married Mosammat Hena Begum, daughter of Md. Billal Hossain Mallik of Darogar Bhita in Batiaghata, in 2013.
The couple had a son, but Mukul frequently assaulted his wife after the marriage.
