Man sentenced to life term for killing two wives, daughter

COMILLA, Nov 10 (UNB): A court here Sunday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his two wives and daughter.
The court also fined the convict Anwar Hossain Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI) more.
According to the prosecution, day labourer Anwar Hossain of Mohammadpur village under Daudkandi Upazila married co-villager Rupali two years back and used to live at his father-in-law's house.
With an ulterior motive to grab the in-laws property, Anwar Hossain strangled Rupali and said that she had died in sleep. After a few days, he married Rupali's younger sister Tahmina, who gave birth to a baby girl later.
As per his plan, Anwar again strangled Tahmina and daughter Mimi on September 25, 2007 to marry Tahmina's younger sister Ratna Akter and grab the property.
After the killings, in-laws of Anwar could understand his ill motive and filed murder case against him. Later, after his arrest he confessed his involvement in the gruesome killings.
After examining 11 witnesses, District and Sessions Judge AKM Zahir Ahmed handed down the verdict.
