Man sentenced to life term for violating girl

CHUADANGA, Oct 25 (UNB): Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 here Wednesday convicted a man in absentia and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a girl.
The court also fined the convict Monir, hailed from Puronandarpur village under Jibonnogor Upazila, Tk 0.1 million.
According to the prosecution, the convict violated the girl of the same village on May 13, 2005. The girl later became pregnant and had an abortion.
As Monir refused to marry her, she filed a rape case with the police. After examining the records and witnesses, the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 Judge SM Shah Jamal Mashreki pronounced the verdict.
