Man shot dead in Dhaka

A young man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the city’s Jurain area early Monday. The victim was identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, 23, son of late Md Abdul Khaleq and a worker of decorator shop ‘Ma Decorator’ in the area. Police officials said miscreants, numbering 4-5, swooped on Ibrahim at Nabinbagh Chairman bari area in Jurain in between 1:00am and 1:30am. He was residing in the area in a rented room. The miscreants fired gunshots targeting Ibrahim and fled from the scene. Being informed, Ibrahim’s brothers Anwar and Harunur-Rashid, who also work in the same decorator shop, went to the spot and rescued him. They whisked him off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctor pronounced Ibrahim dead around 2:00am. Reason behind the murder could not be known, according to a news agency.
