Man shot dead in Patuakhali

A man was shot dead by suspected robbers at Poschim Awliya village in Patuakhali Sadar upazila on Monday. The deceased was identified as Shahajan Hawlader, 45, a resident of the village. Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said a gang of robbers numbering 10-12 stormed into the house of Mannan Master at the village by breaking the door around 1:30am. Hearing screams of the house inmates, the neighbours including Shahjahan rushed to the spot to help them. Sensing danger, the robbers gang opened fire at the villagers. Shahjahan received bullet injuries and died on the spot. Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Patuakhali General Hospital, according to a news agency.
