Man shot dead over land dispute in Sylhet

A man was shot dead by rivals over land related dispute in Baghbari area of Sylhet city on Sunday midnight. The deceased was identified as Mohibur Rahman, 55, son of Abdul Latif, a resident of the area. Locals said Abdul Latif had long been at loggerheads with Pakhi Sohel of the area over the ownership of a piece of land. As a sequel to their enmity, supporters of Sohel fired gunshots at Latif and his son Mohibur in the area on Sunday night, leaving them critically injured. The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. The doctors referred Mahibur to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment, but he died on his way to Dhaka at 12:07am, according to a news agency.
