Man stabbed dead

A man was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbour over a land-related dispute at Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur district on Wednesday. The dead is Surimamud, 60, a resident of Ujan Gangpar village. Quoting locals, police said there was a longstanding enmity between Surimamud and his neighbour Abdul Barik over the ownership of a piece of land. In sequel to the enmity, Barik and his wife Nazma Begum attacked Surimamud and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons while he was going to the disputed land to harvest paddy at about 7:30am, leaving him dead on the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to Sherpur Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, according to UNB.
