Man stabbed dead by muggers in Tongi

Some miscreants hacked to death a man in Tongi Station Road in Tongi town of Gazipur district on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Rinku, son of Abdul Quaiyum of Gopalpur in Tangail. Police sources said a gang of muggers intercepted Rinku while he was returning to his residence from his workplace around 10:00pm. At one stage when the muggers tried to snatch away Rinku’s belongings, he resisted them. Being resisted, the muggers stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Hearing cry for help, locals rushed in and caught one of the muggers named Alamin and handed him over to police. Later, Rinku was rushed to Tongi Government Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead, according to a news agency.
